May Month- Computer Awareness Month

COMPUTER MONTH

In today's digital age, where technology plays a central role in our lives, it is crucial to educate school children about cyber awareness and digital literacy. Hence Amrita Vidyalayam, New Delhi celebrated the month of May as Cyber awareness and computer Literacy Month. The aim was to highlight and explore effective strategies to enhance cyber awareness and digital literacy among school children.

To educate children about online safety, cyber threats, and responsible internet use age-appropriate videos were shown during zero period. And students took the Pledge for the same in the assembly.

In order to educate students about the importance of their digital footprints and equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital world successfully and responsibly. A presentation was shown to the students in the assembly.

As the world becomes increasingly reliant on technology, it is essential to educate school children about computing sustainability and green computing practices. Aiming this student presented an assembly to highlight the importance of computing sustainability, explain the concept of green computing, and explore strategies to promote environmentally friendly and responsible use of technology among school children.

AI is transforming various industries and affecting multiple aspects of our lives. So, in assembly students presented fundamental understanding of AI technology and its Ethical considerations

Also engaging class activities like poster making, PowerPoint reports and webpage making were conducted during computer classes to instill valuable knowledge and skills that promote a safe and responsible online presence.

The students of Grade 3 to 5 enthusiastically participated in the various activities and competitions like Techno Flash, Debate on Pros and Cons of Internet, Poster making on Digital India, Internet Safety and Cyber Crime to name a few.

Robotics activities in schools foster innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. During Computer month students participated in competitions like ROBO DESIGNING, ROBO RACE, ROBO WRESLING to develop STEM knowledge and skills, teamwork abilities, and creativity.

With every aspect undergoing huge transformations, the digitalized style of work has become the new reality. Educator needs to be updated with all the essential information to bring the desired effectiveness in work. In order to meet this demand, a workshop on cyber awareness was organized on Friday 19 May 2023 at 2:30 pm by Mr Salman from KIPS publication as the resource person.

The aim of these activities is to impart the basic knowledge of computer and its importance in our daily life. Students understood the positive and negative impact of mobile phones in our life, the importance of Digital India programme of the Government of India and how it is empowering the people and the Economy of India. To become a responsible and good digital citizen and to spread awareness about Internet safety, Cyber security and Cyber Bullying a number of sessions were also conducted during the month.

It was an educative month for the enthusiastic leaners of Amrita Vidyalayam
