Amma's Message

Youngsters need to understand the real purpose of life. They need courage and wisdom to face the challenges of life. Only with that understanding they can become the light of the world. If we care for them responsibly and mould their whole character with love, then the future of the world will be safe. It is a matter of great anguish that today's youngsters are growing up in a society that teaches them to think, “What can I get” rather than, “What can I give to the world”. Many of them believe that violence is the only legitimate way to settle a conflict. But, in reality, the true essence of our being is, love. We all are beads, strung together on the same thread of love. We all know that the real goal of education is not to create people who understand only the language of technology but to impart a culture of the heart based on spiritual values. Tomorrow's world will be shaped by today's children and we must cultivate universal human values in their tender minds. The teaching of universal spiritual principles and human values should be the main purport of education.

Chairman's Message

Mata Amritanandamayi Devi believes that the goal of education is not to create a generation capable only of understanding the language of machines; education should be able to ignite minds with the brightest of ideas. It gives me great satisfaction to see that Amrita Vidyalayam is progressing, in all its endeavors, towards the holistic development of its pupils. Educating masses is undoubtedly a gigantic task which cannot be accomplished without whole –hearted participation. There can be no greater service to man than to make him educated and to liberate him from the shackles of ignorance. In its attempts to meet the needs of scholars, the school always goes an extra mile. All the staff members do their best, both individually and collectively, for the good of the student community and institution. The school is committed to produce confident individuals who, in the future, will make positive contributions to the nation and we are ever-grateful to all the stakeholders for showing faith in us.

Principal's Message

We believe in an educational philosophy that is both ebullient and in accordance with the altering demands of the society. 'Team Amrita' strives to focus on each and every child, monitor and mentor the young learners and mould them into compassionate and confident individuals. A host of ardent and committed educators, the state of the art library and laboratories, cutting edge curricula, exciting co-scholastic activities and abundance of other essential facilities make the perfect recipe for forging ideal characters. In an effort to make teaching more engaging and interactive, each classroom has been fitted with the latest smart class technology that imparts an enduring, interesting and exciting learning experience. Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way. Hence, the school curriculum has been designed to nourish the physical, emotional, social and cultural needs of the students.

LIBRARY

Libraries represent man's most successful attempt in democratizing knowledge. The library, at Amrita, is the epicenter of scholarly debates, literary criticism, and discussions. It boasts of a rich collection of books, journals, periodicals, magazines and theses from different parts of the world. The library also organizes activities that promote the endangered habit of reading.

SMART CLASSROOMS

Schools across the world are increasingly integrating technology with classroom teaching which is beneficial for both students and teachers. Keeping this in view, at Amrita each classroom has been equipped with an interactive smart board. These boards, in harmony with efficient teachers create more interest and motivation among students. This is a way of not just improving the lectures but also of providing instrumental materials which cater to all learning styles.

GURUKUL

In the age of eroding values and fading ethics, this institution instills the ancient and sacred value system into its learners. To offer an environment worthy of meditation and exchange of spiritual ideas, the school has created a unique precinct called ‘Gurukul’, within its premises. It’s a pasture under the azure sky. Teachers take their students to this area where they ensconce under a great Neem tree and listen to the valuable anecdotes from the biographies of the great saints and glorified souls. This is the place where the students meditate, introspect and realize that enlightened leadership is spiritual if we understand spirituality not as some kind of religious dogma or ideology but as the domain of awareness where we experience values like truth, goodness, beauty, love and compassion, and also intuition, creativity, insight and focused attention.

ACTIVITY ZONE

Surely, academics is a yardstick of a student’s ability at the school level. It is presently the most important one and will probably continue to be so in the foreseeable future. However, we understand that education should focus on all-round development to make an individual relevant to the society in whichever way he or she is talented. Keeping this in mind, the school offers an exclusive arena meant only for conducting activities of myriad kinds. This zone has spacious rooms earmarked for activities such as dance (both classical and contemporary), fine arts (clay modelling, wood carving, wax and fibre casting, sculpture making etc.), music (both vocal and instrumental), yoga, theatre to name just few. The association on the part of all the teachers is high and commendable. There is an adept faculty dedicated to hone different skills of the scholars. The students have been making us proud by winning laurels in different contests held in the school, zonal, district and national levels.

The expansive playground at Amrita Vidyalayam, New Delhi serves as a vibrant arena where students develop physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. SCIENCE LABS

Well-equipped Science Laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology are dedicated to the development of scientific temper and aptitude. These labs enhance classroom teaching by: • open-ended investigative processes, using scientific problem solving • reinforcing and clarifying scientific principles and concepts through application of classroom information • improving retention of concepts through three-dimensional rather than two-dimensional learning experience • stimulating students to appreciate the complexity of science • providing opportunities to engage in collaborative work and to model scientific attitudes and behavior. • developing mastery of techniques and skills needed for career in science, engineering and technology.

COMPUTER LABS

The school has two separate computer labs for senior and junior wings. Both labs are equipped with hi-tech computers of Intel Core series and have around 100 systems apart from the central servers. • Many systems have Broadband internet facility which can be easily extended as and when required. • The labs are continuously upgraded for students to learn latest software skills. • The junior lab has additional audio-visual devices for computer aided learning. • Teachers can connect their desktops into the campus-wide LAN. Each node is connected to the centralized networking facility. Effective firewall ensures computer security and anti-virus software is there in every desktop.

MATHEMATICS LABS

A well-equipped digitized Mathematics laboratory helps students to understand mathematics and its applications in practical life, while boosting their capacity to think mathematically. They learn mathematics by performing activities and by hands on experience. The well-planned and innovative methods train and expose students to complexities of Mathematics. Social Sciences laboratory is well equipped with digitized maps, charts, advanced compasses, astronomical equipment and audio-visual devices to help students experience what they study in the text books.

YOGA ROOM

The Yoga Room provides a peaceful and refreshing environment where students can practice yoga and mindfulness. It is designed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional balance. Through regular yoga sessions, students learn various postures, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises that help improve concentration, flexibility, and overall health. The Yoga Room serves as a space for self-discipline, inner peace, and holistic development.

Library

The Library at Amrita Vidyalayam, New Delhi is a vibrant hub of learning that inspires students to explore, imagine, and discover. Designed to nurture a lifelong love for reading, the library houses a rich and diverse collection of books spanning literature, science, mathematics, technology, history, biographies, reference materials, and age-appropriate storybooks for young readers.

Biology Lab

The Biology Laboratory at Amrita Vidyalayam, New Delhi is a dynamic learning space where students move beyond textbooks to explore the fascinating world of life sciences through observation, experimentation, and discovery. Equipped with modern laboratory apparatus, microscopes, biological specimens, models, charts, and scientific resources, the lab provides an enriching environment for experiential learning.

Special Project

PROJECT AMRITAM

Inspired by the philanthropic ideals of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amrita Vidyalayam has taken up ‘Project Amritam’. This initiative aims at moulding ideal and compassionate citizens out of young learners. We have got overwhelming response from students, parents and teachers; and everyone has been happily contributing towards this noble cause. The school has adopted many impoverished families and they receive grant from us. Under the canopy of the same project, Amrita’s students are also making beautiful cloth bags using recycled material. This is an effort to reduce the use of plastic bags and heal the wounds in the environment caused by human activities. Often, teams comprising of parents, students and teachers visit impoverished families, old age homes, orphanages, schools for the visually impaired and construction sites to donate food items and other essential articles. The students who have already visited these places felt humbled by the experience and have pledged to share their riches with the less-privileged section of the society. Singing Bhajans at the temples is a unique feature of this project. Once in a month, in the evening, students visit temples in the vicinity. There they chant the holy shlokas, sing devotional songs and pray for the well being of the whole world.
